Nars Sheer Glow Foundation and Radiant Creamy Concealer Review

When it comes to make up I always feel like the base is the one thing you need to get right to make the rest of your make up look good. That is why I always like to experiment with different primers, foundations, concealers and powders to find my ideal combinations for different occasions. After constantly seeing Nars Sheer Glow bombing around pretty much everywhere online, I decided to go into my local John Lewis (on more than one occasion) get colour matched. After toying between the samples of Deauville and Fiji for way too long, I decided to go back to John Lewis for one last time to get their opinion. After a problem in store, the girls on the counter decided to give me a full base makeover and, lets just say, I was very impressed and stuff went on my Christmas list.

When the lady gave me the full makeover I figured that this would be the real test of the products on my face and if I wanted to buy any of them or not. The ones that made my list were the foundation and the concealer. I ended up choosing the shade Deauville for my foundation and when this was tested on my skin I loved how natural it looked on me and how well it blended in, it looked like my actual skin with a filter over it. Even though it is buildable you could still see the redness from my blemishes peaking through the skin. I was never intending to look into getting the Radiant Creamy Concealer as I had alot of love for my Urban Decay Naked Skin at the time but when she tried the shade 'Canelle' (which is one of the newer shades Nars have come out with) I was amazed! All of the redness and my blemishes were completely covered! I purposely didn't end up buying any of the products she tried on me as I wanted to give them the full test to see if they lasted throughout my day.

When it came to taking my makeup off at the end of the evening I was amazed at how well the foundation had stayed in place and that my blemishes on my chin were still covered up, considering I'm the type of person who touches their face a lot! One thing I wasn't very impressed with was the concealer that was applied under my eyes had become very noticeably creased and it had melted down my face slightly so it definetely works better on me for blemishes rather than covering my under-eye circles.

I ended up getting both of these products for Christmas which I was so excited about, but something that I have become observant about when using them is that I like to apply both products with my fingers and only use my hands as my tools because I found that my beauty sponge sheered them out and my brushes made them streaky. This is something that I am ok with though as Nars products were designed to be applied to the face with your hands and if it is how I will get the best finish then I am OK with that. I also like that I barely need any powder to set the foundation in place and just a light dusting over the blemishes that I have concealed and the rest of my makeup applied so nicely over the top of my base.  I would also reccomend buying a pump for the foundation as it i quite a runny formula and can be very easily wasted if not careful.

wearing both products for a special event
Sheer Glow has very quicky become one of my new favourite foundations to wear when I have a special event or for when I am going out, it feels so lightweight on the skin and I find that it doesn't transfer but gives a natural finish to the skin, even though it is a medium coverage foundation but is great to build up if needed. And the Radiant Creamy Concealer is perfect for when I am having particularly bad break out days; it is a thick and heavy concealer but when you blend it with your fingers it gets the job done which is why I love it so much. If you haven't tried them both out yet then I do highly reccommend starting off by getting colourmatched in store and a couple of sample pots to take away with you, you don't always get the best colour match in store lighting, befere spashing out on the products because they are a high end brand and you want to get it right before spending a lot of money. The best thing about these 2 products is that I can wear them for hours on end and they will still look good. Quest for foundation and concealer: CHECK!

My New Year Favourites

Happy New Year! 2017 was a year where I did some pretty awesome things; I graduated my MA with distinction, I was part of a team which raised £60k for charity, I got to do more travelling this year. However this year has also come with a lot of self-reflection and a lot of wake up calls. I am going into 2018 feeling lost in the world of work; with no more education to turn to and trying to find my place in society to earn a living. It's stressful and is tough, however, temporary as I am keeping positive and something will come my way! 2017 has been great for self-reflection and really focusing on myself, what I want and what I enjoy. Anyways, enough self-reflection for now! I wanted to kick start 2018 off by sharing with you some of my favourite things that are coming into the new year with me that I have been loving, will continue to use and recommend to you guys!

Mani of the Month: Primark PS Nudes Nail Polish Set

It's no secret that I love painting my own nails. It's a way for me to relax as well as being therapeutic for me. I am often complimented on my nails and asked where I get them done, only to see their shock and surprise at the fact that I do them myself and that they aren't fake! I honestly feel like my choices of nail polish reflect how people react- if I am wearing a polish which looks streaky and tacky people notice, however when my nails are done well, and with good quality polishes which are 'on trend' colours then that is when I get the most compliments. And at the moment that 'on trend' colour is anything nude. I love nude nails, and for me, I really struggle to find the perfect nude nail polish; or any kind of nude beauty products for that matter! So when I was having a scout around good old Primarni, I came across this little set of nude nail polishes. They look lovely, don't they...
