I will be the first to admit that I am an absolute sucker for eyeshadow palettes. I have many, but some how not enough... I still needed to find a one that would fulfil my needs. Those needs was something that I could use for every day use, suitable for travel and that I could get a variety of looks from. After much research and much deliberation I decided to treat myself on student loan day and spend £32 on the Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette. I had seen a lot of hype about this palette online and it was exactly what I was looking for in terms of size, shade range and shade finishes and it had a mirror! So I decided to give it a shot and a little review after using the palette for nearly a month.
As the name suggests, the Natural Eyes palette is made up of 9 neutral colours which can be suitable for multiple looks, from an all matte eye to glamming it up to create a sexy neutral smoky eye. The packaging is the same as all of Too Faced's small 9-shadow palettes in a small, compact tin with a good size mirror as well as being very pretty to look at, both outside and inside. Inside the palette there are 4 matte shades and 5 shimmer/more glittery shades. 2 of the matte shades Heaven (a creamy white) and Nudie (a bone colour suitable for a transition shade) are in the larger pans, which I like because they are shade that I would call 'staples' and ones that I would use to create any look with this palette. The other larger pan, which is in the middle, is a lovely pink shade called Silk Teddy which is a shimmer shade. I would say that this shade is similar to Champagne Truffle from the original Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette just without the gold sheen. In some ways I would have liked this larger pan to be another matte shade and to have either Cashmere Bunny or Sexpresso (the other 2 matte shades on the top row) in that larger pan, however I use Silk Teddy a lot more that what I originally thought whether that is on the lid, brow bone highlight or in the inner corners, so it's actually not that bad that it's in a larger pan as it is a very versatile shade. The other 4 shades in the pan are Push Up and Honey Pot which are slightly similar, although Honey Pot is a lot more golden and yellow toned, as well as Erotica which is a beautiful dark taupe-ish shimmer which looks stunning all over the lid and the final shade is Chocolate Martini which is one of my favourites; a beautiful rich chocolatey brown with specs of gold glitter which makes a beautiful smoky eye look.
However, as with make up, there are no rules; I love a good mix and match and this palette is perfect to do just that. I have pretty much used this palette every day and I love how many versatile looks I can create with it; from a simple eye look to using this palette to create my cut crease for an awards night. I also really like the formula of these shadows, there is admittedly a lot of pick up when you put a lot on your brush and you can get a bit of fall out if you really pack the colour on, however they are buildable and if you use a bit at a time, or even use your fingertips for the shimmer shades and come out very nice indeed.
Overall, if you are looking for a simple everyday palette which is versatile for whatever occasion that I would definitely look into this one. I took this palette with me on my trip to Brighton and I felt like I had everything I needed to make any kind of neutral eye look. I can't believe how much I was umm-ing and ahh-ing about buying this palette because at the moment this is all I really use, I have fallen in love with this little thing and I can't think of anything replacing it any time soon.
Have you tried the Natural Eyes palette, what do you think? What other palettes do your recommend I try?
Elisa :-) x
