Sephora And Duty Free Make Up Purchases

So as are probably aware by now, I have been to Dubai for a family holiday, and I wanted to show you my most recent make up purchases that I got while I was out there and in duty free. 3 years ago I never thought I would be into makeup as much as I am now, I have been more interested in the application of makeup and from that I've been looking into different products. I personally blame YouTube, but it isn't such a bad thing...

So, like I said, I bought some stuff in duty free leaving to go out to Dubai and I bought the other 2 products at the Dubai Mall, the biggest shopping centre in the world! And when I saw that there was a Sephora I was so excited, I was like a kid in a sweet shop and could have easily spent a small fortune in there. But I decided to limit myself to 2 products which came to a total of £50 which was more than enough. I wanted to treat myself to some products that I had done some research on which I thought were worth it as I didn't want to spend so much money on something that I didn't like. And I am quite behind on jumping on the bandwagon with these products but I didn't want to waste my money on something so expensive which I hadn't researched (and was cheaper because it was out for a longer period of time).

So the products that I bought in the airport were my two Benefit products; firstly when I saw that there was only one hoola bronzer left I had to have it. I had seen so many reviews on this and how easy it blends and the universal bronze it gives to all skin tones, bronzer is something I struggle to find because my face has so many freckles in the summer it makes it look really strange, but this lives up to my expectations. I love the little brush it comes with to help me chisel out my contour but it it also really pigmented but so easy to blend. I love this bronzer and it was definitely worth the money.

The second Benefit product was definitely because of the hype around it. I was toying between this mascara and the new roller lash but I thought I should try They're Real first as many people were saying the Roller Lash was comparable to it but how would I know that if I hadn't tried They're Real first? Anyways I'd heard it all about this mascara, and the packaging definitely boasts what people think of it, I really like the brush on this mascara and the nib it has on the end to get the really fine lashes. The formula was wetter than I expected but it really does give length to my lashes; to be honest I don't really need lengthening mascara as my lashes are so long anyways, this was transferring onto the top of my eyelids quite a lot when I was trying to apply it. I'm admittedly quite dissapointed that it didn't fully live upto the hype for me, i found that even thought it doesn't clump my lashes it makes them look quite spidery and spend more time with a lash comb trying to separate them so they weren't so spidery.

During the holiday, when I went into Sephora I went in with an open mind. So many high end makeup was sold there but I didn't want to go crazy. I had afew products in mind and if they had them then I would probably consider buying them. I do regret not buying something from Sephora's own brand because when am I realistically going to go back to a Sephora? It will be a while and for the meantime it would have been nice to have something for my makeup collection from them. Anyway I went to the Nars counter and a nice, friendly gay man was assisting me (I love that they don't judge). I really wanted a new highlighter and I was toying between getting Albatross or the Mary Louminiser by The Balm but I decided to go for this one because I just really like the packaging, it's so sleek and this was one of those good sales assistant moments. All you need is just a touch of this white powder on you cheekbones, forehead, Cupid's bow and down the nose and BAM instant highlight. When I wore this people just commented on how healthy I looked and it just gave me such a glow. It is also so easy to blend and also doubles as an eyeshadow base if you want to put bold colours ontop which is great.

Finally, this is probably my favourite product that I bought. I could have easily bought the whole Too Faced stand, but what I really wanted was the melted lipsticks and I had my eye on afew colours. I've been getting right into my lip colours lately and being more experimental but I would rather buy a high end more muted toned lip colour which I would wear more often than a bold colour which I would hardly wear, and Melted Fig was that inbetween colour for me to have. I really love this product, and I want so many more shades because they apply so easy onto the lip and they just glide on. The staying power is also amazing and they will last for ages without fading too much. I desperately want Melted Chiuauwa (spelling?!) as my next Too Faced product.

I'm so glad I got to experience what a Sephora stall was like and experiment with some new makeup brands which I have never used before, I do still think that it is better to just go for the drugstore brands and find the dupes for products but it is still ok to treat yourself once in a while.

Have you been shopping in Sephora? What do you reccommend I purchase from there next? Let me know in the comments, or Tweet me @Elisa_A__

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation and Radiant Creamy Concealer Review

When it comes to make up I always feel like the base is the one thing you need to get right to make the rest of your make up look good. That is why I always like to experiment with different primers, foundations, concealers and powders to find my ideal combinations for different occasions. After constantly seeing Nars Sheer Glow bombing around pretty much everywhere online, I decided to go into my local John Lewis (on more than one occasion) get colour matched. After toying between the samples of Deauville and Fiji for way too long, I decided to go back to John Lewis for one last time to get their opinion. After a problem in store, the girls on the counter decided to give me a full base makeover and, lets just say, I was very impressed and stuff went on my Christmas list.

My New Year Favourites

Happy New Year! 2017 was a year where I did some pretty awesome things; I graduated my MA with distinction, I was part of a team which raised £60k for charity, I got to do more travelling this year. However this year has also come with a lot of self-reflection and a lot of wake up calls. I am going into 2018 feeling lost in the world of work; with no more education to turn to and trying to find my place in society to earn a living. It's stressful and is tough, however, temporary as I am keeping positive and something will come my way! 2017 has been great for self-reflection and really focusing on myself, what I want and what I enjoy. Anyways, enough self-reflection for now! I wanted to kick start 2018 off by sharing with you some of my favourite things that are coming into the new year with me that I have been loving, will continue to use and recommend to you guys!

Mani of the Month: Primark PS Nudes Nail Polish Set

It's no secret that I love painting my own nails. It's a way for me to relax as well as being therapeutic for me. I am often complimented on my nails and asked where I get them done, only to see their shock and surprise at the fact that I do them myself and that they aren't fake! I honestly feel like my choices of nail polish reflect how people react- if I am wearing a polish which looks streaky and tacky people notice, however when my nails are done well, and with good quality polishes which are 'on trend' colours then that is when I get the most compliments. And at the moment that 'on trend' colour is anything nude. I love nude nails, and for me, I really struggle to find the perfect nude nail polish; or any kind of nude beauty products for that matter! So when I was having a scout around good old Primarni, I came across this little set of nude nail polishes. They look lovely, don't they...
