My MAC Lipstick Collection

I think I have a problem... 6 months ago I had never even bought a MAC product; my mam always said to me "you can buy expensive make up when you're older". Well last Christmas I finally convinced my mam to buy me my first MAC lipstick and since that purchase they have become my new obsession. Now I personally would never go out and buy a MAC lipstick as an impulse buy; I like to do a it of research before I buy a product so expensive. I own 6 MAC lipsticks which may not be a lot to some but considering I never owned any before last Christmas I would say that it's a lot in a short space of time.

Aside from the one my mam bought me, I have bought all my lipsticks with my own money, I do a lot of research before buying them and I only like to buy them as a treat for myself if I've done well at uni or I feel in need of some TLC. I never knew what the big deal was about MAC lipsticks before I got my first one but once I had it I was hooked (considering I never really ventured into lipsticks much before hand) I'm impressed with the packaging, the formula of them, how long they last on my lips, the pigmentation. In my opinion they are worth the money.
From left to right the lipsticks I own are: Hot Tahiti (glaze finish), Twig (satin), Brave (satin), Faux (satin), Taupe (matte) and Velvet Teddy (matte)

Velvet Teddy was the first lipstick I got, which my mam got me for Christmas. I wasn't exactly intrigued by it because of the whole Kylie Jenner lip, but I did genuinely like the colour of it and the way it looked good on everyone i had seen wearing it. I decided to bite the bullet and buy it online as it was sold out everywhere, quite risky, but it was definitely worth it. I really do think the colour suits all, I like the matte finish even though it can be a little drying on my lips but I always like to use this when I do a smokey eye look as it balances everything out, probably my favourite from my collection.

Taupe is a very similar colour to Velvet Teddy except it is a lot more brown based, this is also a matte finish. I have been really into my nude colours lately and I really liked the look of this colour when I saw it on Kathleen Lights which is what inspired me to get it. I feel that it is a very mature colour but it will be nice for more formal occasions.

Faux is a satin finish, and is probably the lightest I would want to go in terms of pink shades solely because my natural lips are fairly on the plum colour side rather than pink. For me this is a bright pink shade but on others it may not be so, but for personal taste and someone who may be venturing out into coloured lipsticks then this would be a pink I would recommend as it is a nice shade but it isn't too out there.

Brave is a colour that is the next shade darker than Faux, also a satin finish this is a popular pink shade but maybe a little more wearable than Faux, this is nice if you want to feel girly but still like the nude lip. Satin finishes are also really nice, glide on much nicer than the matte finishes.

Twig was a colour that I had to do some research on as I wasn't sure if it would be too dark for me, however once I bought the TooFaced melted lipstick in Fig I knew I would like it; and Twig is one of my favourites in my collection. It's a hard colour to describe, it's more of a plummy pink... More geared towards my natural lip colour at least. I like using this satin finish lipstick for day and night as the colour payoff is great. I'm surprised not as many people rave about this as much as other lipsticks...

And last but not least, beginning to breakout of the nude colours is Hot Tahiti (it was so awkward trying to pronounce that in the shop). This is a glaze finish and I love it because it is exactly what it says on the tin and if you just want a subtle hint of colour I would definitely recommend this finish, the only thing is that there isn't many lipsticks in this finish and I do wish there were more. This is a great introduction to coloured lipsticks for me as I don't normally go for red but i really really like this one.

I absolutely love my MAC lipsticks and I can't wait to try more out and explore more of their finishes, I have even started to make a list of other ones that I am interested in, here is a list of what I am thinking about for my next few purchases (really really want*):

Glaze finish; Hue*
Amplified finish; Vegas Volt, Cosmo
Frost finish: angel, Costa chic
Matte finish: Kinda Sexy
Cremesheen finish: crosswires, Coral Bliss, ravishing*, fanfare, speak louder, peach blossom, on hold
Lustre finish: syrup*, jubilee, patisserie*, plink, plumful
Satin finish: Rebel*

What MAC lipsticks do you own? Which ones do your reccomend me buying next? Let me know in the comments, or Tweet me @Elisa_A__

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation and Radiant Creamy Concealer Review

When it comes to make up I always feel like the base is the one thing you need to get right to make the rest of your make up look good. That is why I always like to experiment with different primers, foundations, concealers and powders to find my ideal combinations for different occasions. After constantly seeing Nars Sheer Glow bombing around pretty much everywhere online, I decided to go into my local John Lewis (on more than one occasion) get colour matched. After toying between the samples of Deauville and Fiji for way too long, I decided to go back to John Lewis for one last time to get their opinion. After a problem in store, the girls on the counter decided to give me a full base makeover and, lets just say, I was very impressed and stuff went on my Christmas list.

My New Year Favourites

Happy New Year! 2017 was a year where I did some pretty awesome things; I graduated my MA with distinction, I was part of a team which raised £60k for charity, I got to do more travelling this year. However this year has also come with a lot of self-reflection and a lot of wake up calls. I am going into 2018 feeling lost in the world of work; with no more education to turn to and trying to find my place in society to earn a living. It's stressful and is tough, however, temporary as I am keeping positive and something will come my way! 2017 has been great for self-reflection and really focusing on myself, what I want and what I enjoy. Anyways, enough self-reflection for now! I wanted to kick start 2018 off by sharing with you some of my favourite things that are coming into the new year with me that I have been loving, will continue to use and recommend to you guys!

Mani of the Month: Primark PS Nudes Nail Polish Set

It's no secret that I love painting my own nails. It's a way for me to relax as well as being therapeutic for me. I am often complimented on my nails and asked where I get them done, only to see their shock and surprise at the fact that I do them myself and that they aren't fake! I honestly feel like my choices of nail polish reflect how people react- if I am wearing a polish which looks streaky and tacky people notice, however when my nails are done well, and with good quality polishes which are 'on trend' colours then that is when I get the most compliments. And at the moment that 'on trend' colour is anything nude. I love nude nails, and for me, I really struggle to find the perfect nude nail polish; or any kind of nude beauty products for that matter! So when I was having a scout around good old Primarni, I came across this little set of nude nail polishes. They look lovely, don't they...
