I love my eyeshadow palettes, however I own very few of them as I find that I don't use all the shadows and hit pan on my favourites colours. So when I discovered Make Up Geek eye shadows, where you can buy single pans to custom make your own palette, I decided to have a little splurge. I did my research into the numerous shadows that Make Up Geek have created and I chose my 9 favourites to create my own every-day eyeshadow palette!
I bought my 9 single shadows, plus a small magnetic Z Palette, from Beauty Bay; I paid just over £53 for my personalised eyeshadow palette which I did find was a bit of an investment as you can buy cheaper eyeshadow palettes with many more shadow pans in them. But with this, I knew that I would be able to use every single eyeshadow on a daily basis, if I really wanted to. I had the excitement of unpacking the shadows and placing them in my own order in the magnetic Z Palette which is the perfect size for traveling (minus a mirror) and swatching them all. The first thing I noticed was how pigmented they are; the shimmer shadows in particular, are stunning! I wanted a mix of mattes and shimmers which I could wear for various every day makeup looks. So without further-a-do, here are the shadows in my palette.

The first shadow is Vanilla Bean. I really wanted a nice pale matte shade which would be good for both highlighting the brow bone and setting the lid after applying a primer, and this is perfect for doing that.
Shimma Shimma is one of MUG's iconic eye shadows and it has good reason to be, I should say now that the swatches below don't do any of the shadows justice, but this just has the most beautiful shine to it with great pigmentation. It looks beautiful both on the lid and as an inner corner highlight.
The first matte shade in the palette is Beaches & Cream, another iconic shadow to use as a transition shade and I have been enjoying this one for that reason. It has a nice warmth to it which is great if you are wanting to do a super blended eye look.
Now, I wasn't really sure if I really wanted this shade; I just threw Homecoming in my basket just to get the total up to 9 shadows. However, this has become one of my favourite shadows in the palette! It is a stunning shimmer shade with hints of both brown and purple if you wanted that little extra something on your lids to set a look off.
Latte is probably one of my favourites as I just love this neutral brown as my crease colour. I feel like this is a necessity if anybody wants to start a MUG palette as it is just a staple colour for the crease which will suit so many people.
A warmer version of Latte would be Frappe; like I said, this is a warmer colour but still fantastic for the crease. If I am doing something with a lot of warm tones, or have a yellow undertone to your skin then this is one you will enjoy using.
The famous Cocoa Bear was a one that I did, admittedly, buy because of the hype. A much more pigmented and darker version of Frappe can do the trick to deepen up the crease and on the outer corner for a warm brown smokey eye.
Another favourite, Mocha is like my perfect version of Cocoa Bear simply because I have a cool undertone to my skin. I like this dark brown to deepen up the crease, and to use all over the lid as a base to make shimmery colours pop.
And finally, Burlesque is the only colour which strays away from the 'neutral' family of shadows that I have. I was very torn between this and Bitten, but I already own Sketch by MAC which is similar, so I bought this one as it is a shimmer shade. I have no regrets- I love this so much! It is just a beautiful red wine shimmer, stunning across the lid and for a bold eye look or on the lower lash line to set a look off.
And there we are! Again, I do apologise that the swatches aren't the best quality as they don't do the shadows any justice at all. However I do really love this palette that I have created, Make Up Geek do so many eye shadows that there will definitely be something for everyone!
